At its regular meeting on the 9th, the Board is scheduled to discuss proposals including designating Monday, October 12, 2026, as a school day, converting Veterans Day into an annual school day, and limiting early dismissal days to a maximum of four per grade level.
These measures represent the first step toward reorganizing the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) academic calendar in the long term, and some board members shared their views on the matter during an online community meeting held on the 7th.
