Road Rage Shooting at George Washington Bridge, Man in 40s Killed

A shocking incident occurred on the George Washington Bridge (GWB), which connects New York and New Jersey, where a man in his 40s lost his life after a shooting stemming from an altercation between drivers during evening rush hour.

According to police and media reports, the incident took place around 7:15 p.m. on the 20th on the New Jersey-bound lane of the Upper Level of the George Washington Bridge. Coran Irvine (46), a resident of Rockland County, New York, was shot in the right shoulder and was rushed to nearby Englewood Hospital by responding police, but he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The shooting is suspected to be a result of “road rage.” According to a report by the New York Post citing police sources, it appears that at the time of the incident, Irvine’s vehicle veered slightly toward the suspect’s vehicle, and the shooting occurred immediately after the suspect’s vehicle closely followed Irvine’s.

Meanwhile, the shooting caused severe traffic congestion as vehicle traffic on the New Jersey-bound Upper Level of the George Washington Bridge was completely shut down. The closed lanes were reopened in the early hours of the 21st, about five hours after the incident occurred.
